About NWS

Practitioner-led.
Not outsourced.

NWS Business Consultant was built on a simple conviction: business advice works better when the person delivering it has actually run the operation.

NWS founder — manufacturing leadership and consulting MBA (UK) · BSc Aero (UK) · ED (UK)

Founder & principal consultant

Ten years on the
factory floor.

Before consulting, the founder led manufacturing operations and ran internal training programmes. That experience shapes every engagement today: recommendations are built around what a plant team can realistically execute, not what sounds good in a report.

Every piece of work — registration, training design, diagnosis, grant applications — is handled directly. Nothing important gets handed to a junior team or passed down.

Founder credentials

Qualified to teach. Experienced to diagnose.

Academic qualifications paired with operational practice — which is why the training is usable on the floor and not only in the classroom.

Six-Pillar Business Diagnosis Model™

Six areas. One honest picture.

Before any improvement plan, we assess all six pillars. It is deliberately uncomfortable — the point is to find the constraint, not to confirm what you already believe.

01

Leadership & governance

Whether decisions get made, communicated and followed through — or stall.

  • Ownership & accountability
  • Decision-making rhythm
  • Management reporting discipline
02

Financial control

Whether you can see cost, margin and cash clearly enough to act on.

  • Cost visibility by product
  • Margin structure & pricing
  • Cash flow & working capital
03

Operations & Lean

The physical work: flow, waste, changeover and line balance.

  • Value stream mapping
  • Changeover & downtime reduction
  • Standard work & line balance
04

People & capability

Whether the team has the skills, structure and motivation to sustain change.

  • Skills matrix & gaps
  • Training pipeline & HRD claims
  • Retention & succession risk
05

Quality & compliance

Whether standards are documented, followed and auditable.

  • ISO 9001 readiness
  • Documentation & traceability
  • Regulatory & statutory compliance
06

Commercial & market

Whether the order book is diverse, priced and predictable.

  • Customer concentration risk
  • Pricing discipline
  • Order pipeline & forecasting

D5™ transformation cycle

Five stages, no shortcuts.

A repeatable sequence from baseline measurement to verified result. Each stage has defined deliverables and a clear exit condition before the next one begins.

D1 Diagnose

Baseline the business

Measure where you actually stand across all six pillars. Data first, opinion second. The findings define what is worth fixing and what is not.

D2 Design

Build the roadmap

Target operating model, prioritised improvement actions, resource requirements and realistic timelines — sequenced by impact and dependency, not by convenience.

D3 Deploy

Implement on site

Execution happens where the work happens — your line, your shift, your conditions. Your team participates throughout rather than receiving a finished document.

D4 Drive

Track and correct

KPI dashboards, scheduled reviews and honest corrective action. When something is not working, it gets addressed while the work is still in progress.

D5 Deliver

Verify and hand over

Results confirmed against the baseline, capability transferred to your people, and the engagement closed with full documentation — so you can sustain it without us.
